All That We Are

Seven people and things they like. Which mostly happen to be travel and food and music and books and silver and shopping. They like to write, but are sometimes lazy and sometimes hit by writer's block. This blog hopes to overcome both and soldier on.

Book lover, music mad, postcard collector, Google groupie, elephant aficionado, food enthusiast (experimental non-vegetarian, which means I'm up for a fleshy bite but that's that), crossword nut, Wodehouse worshipper, master zone-outer. Resemble a dot especially when viewed from afar. Happy feet in boots that like to travel way more than they can. Can find humour in most things but sometimes that means I'm the only one hee-hawing among a group of sober, sometimes startled, faces. Get violently seized by random passions that sadly get abandoned as quickly as they seized me. Can dedicatedly pop bubble wrap for longer than I can pay attention to what you're saying. Walking advert for the "before" part of Miraculous Memory Pills, whenever they're invented. Generally a happy person. Lazier than Garfield and hence in a state of inertia in the bigger aspects of life. Yet, always up for something new when it comes to this & that. Have a bucket list of 87 items that I intend to tick off entirely before I kick the bucket. I like philosophizing and tend to ramble a lot when I'm writing, so my posts are probably going to be longer than others'. If and when they are put up at all, which derives from the lazy bit.

On my Wanderlist:
Turkey
Russia
Ukraine
Prague
Peru
Spain
Israel
Morocco
Italy
South Africa
Mexico

Obsessive compulsive traveler. People observer. Experience peddler. Memory preserver. Passion nurturer. Music chewer. Question asker. Answer seeker. Space cadet. Angry ranter. Fashion senseless. Style Guru. Dessertie. Stilettos collector. Part time fitness fanatic. Full time shopoholic. Delhi girl in Bombay.

I'd mostly be writing about travel, music, fitness and style. Anything beyond that would be angry rant!

Places I want to pin before I kick the bucket:

The world

A bit of a travel bug, but scared of hilly places. Prefers the beachy goodness of coastal areas. Harbours an ultimate desire of not just travelling to, but spending a good year or two in certain parts of the world (hopefully with enough money to thoroughly enjoy each one of them).

I'm a lone tripper on the highway of life, neither looking back nor forward, living by the minute on the edge!

Average guy next door. No surprises! Slow on making friends. Seldom stay in touch. Old school. Love to savour the taste of various cuisines. Truly indulge in complete course meal. Use cooking as an outlet for creativity. Always loved cars. Have recently gotten into cruiser bikes. Live for long road trips. Would die for my "Pie". Have a long bucket list that includes a night's stay in jail. Phew, well that's me in a nutshell!

I grew up longing to see a hill station, because my father was working towards a world record of never taking a day off work. And I think I have inherited my scepticism from him because he was never comfortable sending me on school trips either. So, while I lived in Delhi all my life, I never saw a Nainital or a Shimla. And then, at 21, I moved to a hill to study. Those were two years of cool breezes, dreamy clouds, mesmerising night skies, and romance that could never tire me. And that is the place which got me qualified to contribute to this blog.

Besides travel, I am interested in photography. I do not know if saying that I started clicking before the camera became "today’s guitar" gives any more credibility to my pictures, but yes, it has been a love for long enough and has kept me afloat through many a tides.

I love quiet walks, I am yet to find company for those quiet walks; I love silver, I am yet to make enough money to satiate my silver-y desires; and I love to obsess about myself far more than you can imagine.

I love...
Writing: the only way I know to help me through the bad times, and the good.
Talking: This is rather debatable, depending on whether you’ve seen me talk or not. Which depends on whether I like you or not. Oh well.
Eating: Sigh, one of my few passions in life. And it shows. In kilos.
Travelling: I didn’t get to travel much until recently. And now it’s the one thing I look forward to. Budget or luxury…count me in!
Shopping: Not the cheapest love to nurture.
Stationery and excel sheets. Go figure.
Bullet points
Kaybee.

I stay away from...
Hypocrites
Stereotypes
Gossip
Any food that’s squishy

I wish...
To ride a roller coaster
To write a book
To dance
To kick a guy in the balls
To be happy

And miles to go before I sleep...
Goa
Leh
Greece
Bora Bora
Vegas
Switzerland

My Life....
I have already existed for 24 years... Now I want to live.

Silver Mist

Living in Bangalore, parents in Mumbai, belong to UP and studied everywhere in between.. that’s pretty much been my  identity since forever. Always the new girl in school coz dad got transferred to a new city every few years – a good thing too coz I’ve realised I get bored of a place real quick! My wanderlust, you might say?

Obsessively fascinated with Dragons and the colour black, morbidly afraid of dogs, public speaking and maths, can do almost anything for a bet. Can spend days watching movies and plays but  usually don’t remember much of them later.  A champion procrastinator, can sleep at the drop of a hat, like using big words, voracious reader and love being called a bookworm.

Have a weird sense of humor, am good at basketball but barely ever play. Can sing a bit and maybe dance. Dislike coffee but have a fascination for exotic food and hence, up for eating anything. The left half of my brain needs to make lists and thinks a million times before doing or saying something. Love my work but of course, hate Mondays. My idea of an awesome weekend is vegetating in front of the TV or with a book. Loyal to the point of stupidity, my family means everything  to me.

My travel guidelines: Prefer hills to beaches, comfort to the outdoors, architecture (meaning monuments and buildings) is always on my to-do list coz of my infatuation with history. I have my specific list of places but will gladly go wherever someone has already done the planning (:P) I spend like crazy on trips, but am bad at getting back gifts for people, so always pick up chocolate. Have a deep internal need to travel and love everything around me when doing so.

Been "suffering" from writer’s block for the past 2 years and this blog is my chance at redemption (hopefully)

My list of need-to-see places, in no particular order:
  • Turkey
  • Vietnam / Cambodia
  • Russia
  • Egypt
  • Greece
  • Spain
  • Morocco
  • Leh
